Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 22, 2026
QuoteVault is designed around a simple principle: your quotes, reflections, and reading habits belong to you. This Privacy Policy explains what information QuoteVault ("we," "us," or "our") collects when you use the QuoteVault app (the "App"), how it is used, and the choices you have.
1. Information We Do Not Collect
QuoteVault does not sell or share your personal data with advertisers, data brokers, or analytics companies that aggregate user profiles. We do not use third-party advertising SDKs. We do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
2. Information Stored On Your Device and iCloud
The quotes, collections, favorites, reflections, and notes you create in QuoteVault are stored locally on your device and, if you have iCloud enabled, synchronized across your devices through your personal iCloud account using Apple CloudKit. This data is encrypted in transit and at rest and is accessible only to you through your Apple ID. We do not have access to the contents of your iCloud container.
3. Sign in with Apple
If you choose to Sign in with Apple, Apple shares a unique, random identifier with us. If you elect to share your name and email, we receive these only to provide the account experience. You can revoke access at any time from your Apple ID settings.
4. In-App Purchases
All purchases of individual Quote Packs and the All Packs Bundle are processed by Apple through the App Store. We receive a receipt confirming entitlement, but we do not receive or store your payment card information. Apple's Privacy Policy governs these transactions. Entitlements are restored automatically on any device signed in with the same Apple ID, and all products support Apple Family Sharing.
5. On-Device AI Explanations
QuoteVault's AI Explanations feature uses Apple Intelligence on-device models. Your quote text is not sent to our servers and is not used to train any model. Processing happens on your device.
6. Camera, Photos, and OCR
If you use the camera or OCR Scan feature to capture a quote from a book, the image is processed locally on your device. We do not upload your photos or scanned text to any server.
7. Kindle Import
When you import highlights from Kindle, parsing is performed locally on your device. The imported content is stored exactly like any other quote you add.
8. Share Extension, Widgets, and Spotlight
These system integrations operate entirely within your device. No additional data is collected by QuoteVault through them.
9. Notifications
Daily quote notifications are scheduled locally. We do not send push notifications from our servers unless you opt into a feature that clearly indicates this.
10. Diagnostic and Crash Information
If you opt into sharing analytics with app developers via your iOS device settings, Apple may share anonymous, aggregated crash logs and usage statistics with us to help improve the App. This data is not tied to your identity.
11. Children's Privacy
QuoteVault is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in the relevant jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it.
12. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights under laws such as the EU GDPR, UK GDPR, and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to access, correct, delete, or export your data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. Because QuoteVault data lives on your device and in your iCloud account, you can exercise most of these rights yourself from within the App (Export, Delete) or through your Apple ID. For any remaining requests, contact us at privacy@quotevault.app.
13. Data Retention
We retain the minimal account metadata associated with Sign in with Apple only as long as your account is active. When you delete the App and revoke access, any associated server-side metadata is deleted within 30 days.
14. Third-Party Services
QuoteVault uses the following first-party Apple technologies: iCloud, CloudKit, Sign in with Apple, StoreKit, WidgetKit, App Intents, and Apple Intelligence. Use of these services is subject to Apple's own Privacy Policy.
15. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you in-app.
